U14 Rugby - Round 5
Marist College – 20
St. Joseph’s College - 7
On Tuesday the 4th of February, Marist College played a physical and powerful St. Joseph’s College team at home. St Joseph’s College got off to a great start with their forwards driving the ball up the field. Marist College’s defence lacked effectiveness early on, allowing St. Joseph’s the first try of the game. Marist College’s fly half, Jack Costello, responded by kicking a penalty and a try from the captain, Fearghal Kelly, kept the game extremely tight throughout the first half, with an impressive battle being played out by both teams.
Marist College responded well in the second half, aligning their defence and attacking with pace. Impressive hits from both teams, notably St. Joseph’s College’s Number 8 and Marist’s pack leader, Daniel Murphy kept the game at an exciting pace. Both teams fought it out until the very end, with the tactical and resilient Marist College team securing a win with two more tries.
Try Scorers:
Fearghal Kelly, Daniel Murphy and Will Browne.
