Senior Gaelic Team Off To A Flying Start

Marist College 0-17

St Fintan’s HS 0-6

Well done to our senior footballers who won their first Leinster 'A' championship group game in Dublin last Thursday. Played on a tight pitch in blustery conditions, Marist were first off the mark through Fred Kelleher and Eoin Mulvihill. Sutton replied, before Marist sent over 5 unanswered points in a row to widen the gap between the sides. The points came from Brian Ruane, Tom O'Carroll, Joe Carmody, Ciaran Sugrue, and a Kieran Colclough free. Sutton scored the last 2 points of the half to leave it 0-07 to 0-03 at half time.

Tom O'Carroll got Marist off the mark at the start of the second half, quickly followed by a St. Fintan's point. Kieran Colclough slotted two '45's and Fred Kelleher scored his second before Sutton scored their last 2 points of the game. Marist closed out the game with points from Ciaran Sugrue, O'Carroll, and two monster frees from distance from Colclough. Substitutes Mattie Nally and Josh Beaumont also scored a point each to round off the scoring. Best for the Marist on the day were Pearse Frost and Eoin Mulvihill at the back, while Shane Allen and Tom O'Carroll were both impressive around the middle. Next up for the Marist is Maynooth PP in a winner-takes-all clash on Wednesday 29th November at 1pm in Kiltoom.
