Junior Cup Team Storm into Connacht Final

Marist 41 Sligo Grammar 7

Marist College Junior Cup rugby side qualified for the Top Oil Connacht Schools Cup Final after a thoroughly comprehensive victory over Sligo Grammar School. Home advantage was Marist’s reward for topping their pool and they certainly made it count.

Marist College were first off the mark with John O’Shea making great ground and Adam Flanagan crossing the line. This was converted by Ruairí Fallon. Despite Grammar putting up a good fight, a dominant Marist saw Sam Fogarty (3), Ruairí Fallon (2) and Aaron Burke (1) all crossing the try line. Ruairí also kicked a fantastic kick penalty from near the half way line which sailed over. Sligo Grammar came back in the second half to get 7 points, but they were just no match for the pace of the Marist. Well done to the lads on a great team performance by all players. We now play Garbally College on Tuesday 20th March in the Sportsgrounds Galway.
