The First Year Basketball team got their season off to a great start with a comprehensive win over St. Paul’s of Monasterevin. The Marist panel travelled to Co. Kildare for their first test of the league and got the game going with confidence from the outset. Both Luke Whelan and Kian Mitchell were influential in setting up quick breaks, while defensively Owen McNamara denied the opposition opportunities at the basket. Teamwork prevailed and the lads came away with a great result.

2nd Year Basketball

St. Paul’s, Monasterevin – 19

Our Second Year Basketball squad also travelled to face an experienced St. Paul’s side. Players recalled a very close fixture last season and were determined to start off strong. The accomplished pairing of Ben Donegan and Bill Carmody ensured the lads settled into the game and went four points ahead in the first quarter. Harry Stuart-Trainor and David Westman picked up the pace and put pressure on the St. Paul’s players. Strong defending kept the opposition score line down and our players took advantage of defensive rebounds to come out with a comfortable win.
