

Connacht U14 A League Rugby Final
Hard luck to our U14 team who played Summerhill, Sligo in the Connacht A League Final. After a well contested game, Summerhill came out on top this year. Our lads have shown huge commitment and dedication all year and show great prospects for the future. Thanks to coaches Mr. Broderick and Mr. Galvin for their motivation, guidance and development of this team.


TY Cooking up a Storm in AIT
Our Transition Year students took part in a Culinary Arts course in Athlone Insititute of Technology, as part of their personal component for the Gaisce Awards. Thanks to the AIT Faculty of Business and Hospitality for giving our students this opportunity to develop their skills and enabling them to produce a fantastic array of dishes for a formal lunch held in the college.


1st Year Maths competition
Well done to Donál McDermott and David O’Shea represented Marist College in the final of the Irish Junior Maths competition in Tullamore last Friday. The boys worked resiliently to get to this stage and are certain to be future Mathematicians.


All-Ireland Performing Arts Competition 2019
Congratulations to our students who recently competed in the All-Ireland Performing Arts Competition. The competition was held in Trabolgan, Cork, with acts from across the country. Fifth Year students Lorcan Withers, Daniel Butler, Michael Butler, Bryan Hughes, Jack Norton, Joshua Jocker and Shaun Fox took second prize overall in the competition, a huge achievement considering the variety of talent displayed at the event. ‘Beat the Blues’ - Mental Health Awareness
As part of Senior Cycle SPHE, we welcomed Helen Butler of Aware to the school to conduct mental health workshops with all senior students. The aim of the programme was to help student understand what mental health is, why it is important and how to take care of it. The 'Beat the Blues' workshops were well-received by students, who recognised the value and importance of this programme.


Back to Back DCU 7’s Winners
Congratulations to our students who took part in the DCU 7 a-side blitz. The lads came away as back to back winners, as they retain the trophy for two years in a row.


Show Jumping Competition
Well done to Ethan McGorisk and Tom Costello who recently represented Marist College in the Insterschools Showjumping Competition in Mullingar. Ethan and Tom placed 5th and 6th out of a large number of competitors.


U14 Rugby - Connacht A League Semi-Final
Our U14 Rugby team came away with a fantastic win against St. Gerald’s, Castlebar in the Connacht A League Semi-final. Final score Marist College 29 – St. Gerald’s 7. Our team were delighted to receive a visit from former Marist student and Irish rugby stat, Robbie Henshaw. Robbie offered our lads advice as the progress to the Connacht Final next week. Well done to the team and thanks to Robbie for the inspiring words.


1st Year Basketball Midland League Champions
Congratulations to our 1st Year Basketball team who won the Midlands League Final in Portlaoise last week. We are now through to the All-Ireland playoffs. U14 Connacht ‘A’ League
Well done to our U14 Rugby team who had a comprehensive win over Roscommon CBS, guaranteeing a home semi-final in the Connacht U14 ‘A’ League. The semi-final takes place on Wednesday 27th March at 12pm against Castlebar CBS. All support welcomed.
