Congratulations to First Year student Bill Carmody who has successfully reached the national final of the ninth annual Poetry Aloud competition, organised by the National Library of Ireland and Poetry Ireland
Bill has already progressed through the regional heats and last week was selected after the national; semi-finals. The national final will take place in the National Library of Ireland in Dublin on 1st December. The event will see 31 students from across the country compete in the junior, intermediate and senior categories for the Seamus Heaney Poetry Aloud Award. Bill will be competing in the junior category.
Poetry Aloud is an annual poetry speaking competition for post-primary school students across the island of Ireland, it has grown enormously and there were 1,800 entries in 2017. It is a fantastic achievement to reach the final from 1,800 competitors.
