

Marist College Annual Awards Ceremony
This week we had the privilege of celebrating the many varied achievements of Marist students in 2018/2019. This ceremony, as always, is an incredible summing up of achievements in the current academic year – a year which has had hugely commendable successes, both in academia and sport. All Ireland Senior Schools Swimming
Congratulations to our swimming relay team who recently won two silver medals at the All Ireland Senior Schools Swimming championships in the National Aquatic Centre in Dublin on April 14th. The lads won silver medals in the 4 x 50m freestyle and 4 x 50m medley relays. The team comprised of dedicated swimmers, Aindriu Lynam, Mark Rockett, Roan Flaherty and Zach Meegan. Well done to the team for their awards, time and commitment to the sport.


SciFest Winners
Congratulations to our SciFest individual winners James Heaslip, Donál McDermott, OisÃn Dolan, Eoin Kane and group Cillian Redmond and Dylan Farrell, who recently took part in the Regional Final of SciFest in Athlone Institute of Technology. The competition was tough, with great examples of science research from all around the Midlands. Well done to the lads for all their hard work and research throughout the many stages of the competition.


TY Barcelona Tour
Our Transition Year students were lucky to experience the sunshine and culture of Barcelona during the Easter break. A group of 40 excited students and 5 teachers set off from Marist College to a jam-packed itinerary in the Catalonian city and surrounding area. Over the course of the trip students took in the sights and sounds of the city, including cable car rides and open top bus journeys to visit Camp Nou of Barcelona FC, the famous La Sagrada Familia, Montserrat and Barce


1st Year Basketball Progress to All-Ireland Semi-Final
Congratulations to our 1st Year Basketball team, overcoming three top ranked teams to win the All-Ireland play-offs. Marist College, chosen to host the event on Monday the 8th of April, welcomed CCI Abbeyfeale, Limerick, Larkin College, Dublin and Carrigaline CS, Cork for the competition. 2019 Midlands Region Pi Quiz
The 2019 Midlands Region Pi Quiz was hosted by the Maths department at Marist College, Athlone last Friday night, April 5th. Fourteen teams participated from the West and Midlands region. Congratulations to Salerno Secondary School from Galway who came in first place. New Marist Leaders
Congratulations to our new Marist Leaders who were recently selected to join the Marist Leadership programme. Marist Leaders is a leadership programme for senior students of Marist College Athlone, Moyle Park and Marian College in Dublin. Marist Leaders mentor and guide First Year students as they enter the school, helping to ease the transition from Primary to Secondary school. Marist College F1 Team through to Abu Dhabi Finals
On the 5th of April Vintius racing, an ‘F1 in Schools’ team representing the Marist achieved second place in their national finals and have qualified to go to Abu Dhabi for the F1 in Schools World Finals next November. F1 in Schools is an international STEM challenge in which teams of students aged 9 to 19 deploy CAD 3D modelling software to design miniature cars. The cars are then analysed, manufactured and rigorously tested to design the world’s fastest F1 in Schools car. T
