Marist Students finish inside World Top 20

Marist Athlone students, Padraic McDermott, Ruaidhri Campion and Robert Lowe finished in 19th place in the F1 In Schools World Finals which concluded last week in Kuala Lumpur. The Athlone boys were competing against 55 teams drawn from 51 different countries across the globe. The competition sees students design and make a model F1 car and they must also build a stand, raise money and produce and enterprise and marketing plan. Over the course of the week all teams are graded across various headings. It is a tremendous achievement by the students and it is the second year in a row that the school has represented Ireland.

After the busy week of the competition the students were guests at last week’s Malaysian Formula 1 Grand Prix at the Sepang circuit in Kuala Lumpur.
